Destination Norway: the Industry Cycling Group rides again!
The 7th ride of our informal Industry Cycling Group is upon us! After successful trips in France and Italy, we've set our sights on Norway for the next adventure. Combining stunning coastline, the incomparable Ocean Road, viking villages nestled around pretty harbours, and the awesome Troll's Staircase - this is one ride you shouldn't miss out on.
Dates:
27 -31 May 2020
Itinerary:
Day 1 After flying into Alesund transfers will be provided to get to Molde, time for bikes to be assembled and prep for the following day.
Day 2 One of the feature days as we head up to the Grand Atlantic Ocean Road. An incredible section of road that skips from Island to Island with breathtaking views of the surrounding fjord. A testing but flat day of 130kms.
Day 3 The easiest of the days with a scenic ride round the Fannefjord, and a picturesque route towards the town of Andalsnes. 92kms.
Day 4 The last and most testing day with the ride up the incredible Trollstigen, a fantastic piece of road that winds up the valley coming tantalisingly close to the waterfall with 12 hairpins! Its then a long ride back to Alesund with views over the Storfjorden. Please ensure your bike has lights fitted as there are a number of tunnels!

How fit do you need to be to join a Level 3.5 'Bike Ride'?
You need to have good endurance for these events. You must be used to doing long rides in the countryside - 6 hours + . You should be doing regular exercise - with some serious cycle training and be able to cycle at reasonably high speeds for up to 1 hour or 25 km. You may also be concentrating on other types of exercise but for longer periods of time (ex. sessions in excess of 1.5 hrs) however cycling is the best preparation...obviously!
