Overall objective:
As Managing Director, your primary responsibility is for the commercial performance of the business and ensuring it meets the growth targets set by the founders. Reporting to the two Founders of the business.
Main Duties:
Events* Implement strategies to improve yield and to scale the events* Implement strategies to review and improve retention* Ensure the marketing strategy is aligned with the events’ commercial objectives.* Identify additional revenue streams* Monitor competitor activity.* Stay close to your markets, understanding their trends.* Develop a content strategy
General Management
- * Day to day management and motivation of the senior event team.
- * Set, monitor and evaluate performance targets and individual bonus plans
- * Complete staff appraisals.
- * Recruit and interview new staff where necessary.
- * Assess, develop and coach all reporting staff
- * Ensure there are succession plans in place for senior team members.
Sales & Buyer Recruitment
- * Manage and motivate the sales and buyer recruitment teams to ensure event and financial KPIs are met
- * Lead by example: you are responsible for delivering your personal sales targets
- * Ensure your team develops new revenue streams to maximise the profitability of the business
- * Ensure individuals are constantly developing and, where appropriate, are taking on more responsibility.
- * Identify under-performance and execute remedial actions.
- * Identify star performance and ensure exceptional team members are given the opportunity to thrive
Financial
- * Overall accountability for setting annual P&L and for meeting and exceeding budgeted gross and net contributions.
- * Ensure sales costs remain within budget.
- * Manage sales performance and adjust the budget where required to ensure overall profitability
- * Review sales commissions structure to ensure they’re focused on meeting the budgeted targets
Operations
- * Working with the Head of Operations develop an operational strategy that meets/comes in under budget
- * Ensure the plan is delivered in an efficient, cost effective and timely manner.
Marketing and Content
- * Have a close involvement with key industry partnerships in conjunction with the buyer recruitment and sales teams
- * Foster positive and professional relationships with key associations, media and commercial partners.
