An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior exhibition/commercial conference professional to take over the running of the Singapore office of a global event organiser as Managing Director. As part of the senior management team for this business, you will focus on growth and development, developing business strategies to attain commercial company goals and implementing comprehensive business plans for Asia Pacific. You will be expected to identify, develop and launch new business opportunities for optimal commercial success and oversee the company's financial performance, through accurate budget forecasting and managing cash flow. You will need to get hands on in this business as well as stand back and take an overview of the business to strategise and plan growth.
Other responsibilities include:
Plan cost-effective operations and market development activities.Establish company policies and legal guidelines.
Set up and actively lead the delivery of events and projects in terms of strategy, marketing activations, pre and onsite logistics, and building own sales pipeline.
Negotiation and approval of venue tenancy agreements, supplier contracts and digital products. Formulate ideas and curate content for conferences and events, working closely with stakeholders to set the vision and content of the product, and develop optimal user experiences for participants/delegates.
Assist in the planning, coordination, and editing of all written content for their industry magazine, website, daily news bulletins and partner sponsored content.
Execute regular public speaking and representational appearances at their events and partner events and media platforms, including awards and advisory panels.
Analyse problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth.
Provide strategic advice to the Chairman and VP (in USA).
Supervise the work of direct reports providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance.
Further develop and enhance company culture.
- Experience
You must have:
Experience of conference and exhibition management at senior management level.
Hands-on experience in developing strategic and business plans.
In depth knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the company.
Director-level marketing and sales competencies.
Experience working with government policy heads and trade associations.
Ability to understand and build community-led commercial products.
Familiarity with Singapore corporate and manpower laws, and management best practices.
Editorial and media trained would be a bonus.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Superior quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
Problem solver able to keep calm and efficient under pressure and in crisis.
